Last week, I ran across a recipe that juiced cantaloupe. I love it when someone comes up with an idea that never occurred to me! 🙂
The original recipe was posted in a Friday Foodie blog post on Brown Paper Tickets back in July. But I had cantaloupe now, and since it is still frequently quite warm here in Eastern Washington, a cool fruity beverage sounded lovely.
I “consolidated” a few steps in the original recipe (or, as my family would tell the story, I failed to read the instructions and poured everything into the blender all at once). However you choose to spin THAT story, here is what I did:
- 1/2 ripe cantaloupe, peeled and cubed
- 1 quart cold water
- 1/3 c. raw sugar
Add everything to blender and puree until smooth. Serve over ice (with or without your alcoholic add in of choice) and enjoy.
My juice was thicker than the original recipe, which strained the pulp out of the liquids, but it was refreshing. Adding fresh mint while blending might increase the freshness factor even more.
How refreshing! Plus, with all of the various types of melons that we receive from our weekly CSA, the choices for fancy drinks are limitless. I met you at the symposium. 🙂
Looks like the perfect way to cool down in this ever lingering heat…
thanks for sharing 🙂
Mmm … I’ll bet that was good. It’s so colorful! I must try it!
